Importing Accounts or People From a CSV

Import first party data into your audience. From the audience building page, you can bulk import CSVs or groupings of either companies or people to use in your audience criteria.

The ability to import an CSV to use in your audience is coming soon in Primer 2.0. The below directions will help you import a CSV in Primer 1.0.

Importing a CSV to use in the Company criteria:

Step 1: Select Your CSV File

  • To begin, click the "Import" button located at the top right of the audience creation interface.

  • Choose the CSV file you want to import from your computer.

Step 2: Import Wizard

  • You'll be led through a wizard that outlines the import steps.

  • At the top, you'll see if any rows in your CSV are invalid and receive guidance on how to proceed.

  • Proceed with valid rows or skip any invalid ones.

Step 3: Field Mapping

  • Next, you'll be prompted to map your fields.

  • The only required field at the company level is "domain."

  • Ensure that your CSV includes the domain and map it to the "domain" field in the wizard.

  • You can also map any optional fields as needed.

  • As long as the domain is included and mapped, your CSV will import successfully.

Step 4: Completing the Import

  • Click "Next" to continue.

  • You can choose to give your CSV import a different name.

  • Once the CSV is uploaded, you will find it as a filter option in your audience.

  • Click "Save" to proceed to your people criteria.

Importing a CSV to use in the People criteria:

Step 1: Select Your CSV File

  • Within the audience builder, go to the "People" section and select "Import."

  • Choose the CSV file you wish to import.

Step 2: Import Wizard

  • The import steps for people are similar to the company level import.

  • However, there are a few additional required fields: first name, last name, and the company domain.

Step 3: Field Mapping

  • Next, you'll be prompted to map your fields.

  • Ensure that First Names, Last Names, and Domain are mapped as these are required fields when importing a CSV for People filter criteria.

Step 4: Completing the Import

  • Click "Next" to continue.

  • You can choose to give your CSV import a different name.

  • Click "Save" to proceed to your people criteria.

  • Once imported, you will see it as a filter option under your people criteria.
