# Pixel connection status

What Connected and Not connected mean for the website pixel, and when the status updates.

After you [install the pixel](/primer/primer-support-review/website-tracking/installing-the-pixel.md), Primer shows whether it's receiving traffic.

## Connected vs. Not connected

* **Connected** — Primer received at least one event from your site in the **last 24 hours**.
* **Not connected** — no event has arrived in the last 24 hours. If you just installed the snippet, visit your site to generate an event.

## When the status updates

Primer checks for events on a timer:

* **Every 15 seconds** while the pixel is not yet connected, so a fresh install flips to Connected quickly once traffic arrives.
* **About every 2 minutes** once connected.

If the pixel stays Not connected after you've loaded a page on your site, confirm the snippet is on the page and that your [Content Security Policy](/primer/primer-support-review/website-tracking/installing-the-pixel.md#content-security-policy) allows Primer's domains.
