Duplicating and archiving audiences

Copy an audience to iterate on it, or archive one to hide it from your active list.

Each audience has a menu with actions for managing it, including duplicating and archiving.

Duplicating an audience

Duplicating makes a new, independent copy of an audience's filters and latest estimate, named with a (Copy) suffix. You can duplicate an audience in any status.

The copy is detached from the moment it's created: it starts its own history and carries no confirmation, so editing the copy never changes the original, and vice versa. Use it to try a variation without touching the audience you already have.

Archiving an audience

Archiving moves an audience to Archived and hides it from your active list. It doesn't delete anything, and it isn't available for an audience that's currently Running or already Archived.

If the audience synced to a destination within the last week, Primer shows an extra warning before archiving, since archiving it affects a campaign that's recently been live. Confirm to archive, or cancel to leave it as is.

There's no permanent delete

Archiving is the only way to remove an audience from your active list — Primer has no hard-delete. An archived audience is hidden and frees its active slot, but it isn't destroyed, so you keep its history and can refer back to it.

What archiving does to a synced (Live) audience

When you archive an audience that's synced to a destination, Primer also claws it back from that ad platform — it removes the corresponding customer list / custom audience so it stops being used in your campaigns. That's why archiving a recently-live audience prompts the extra warning. If you archived one by mistake, un-archiving it returns it to Draft so you can rebuild and re-sync.
